Jenee Tibshraeny at interest.co.nz has identified the lack of specific direction to RFAs on commission disclosure (and other requirements) as a key issue in the FAA/FSP review.

Her analysis reinforces the view that while commission may be a factor (how much, how well disclosed, how clear, and so on) in the review as a whole the mechanism for managing it is to standardise the approach to supervision. AFAs have clear direction on the disclosure of all kinds of remuneration and benefits, along with a broad requirement to advise clients of conflicts of interest.
